The Six

The Gateway Chronicles Book 1 Darcy Pennington hates her life. She is an insufferably average teenager with no real friends, crushing social anxiety, and an indescribable sense of not fitting in anywhere. Then a change in her dad’s job forces her to attend Cedar Cove Family Camp where she once again finds herself on the outside of a social circle. After unwittingly stumbling through a magical gateway to a new world called Alitheia, Darcy begins to realize there might be a higher purpose for her life, and she eventually convinces the other five teenagers to travel there with her. Once there, they learn the “arrival of the Six” was prophesied hundreds of years before, and that they must expel an ancient evil from the land. Will Darcy have what it takes to save Alitheia? Or will she fall prey to a deadly foe?

Praise for The Six

"I loved reading about the world of Alitheia and the creatures in it! The story is a bit The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, a bit Harry Potter - it's just the sort of thing I loved to read when I was middle-grade-aged."

"I love Hoyle's descriptions at the beginning of the story. which continued throughout the book. She created rich images with her words, without weighing it down with too much detail (which is often a hard balance for an author to find). This series is for young adults and I was pleased that the reading level and subject matter fit her audience while still being interesting to the adult reader. Hoyle does a wonderful job of capture young teen angst."

"This book left me thirsting for the next installment. I was instantly drawn in by the character, Darcy, and her plight. The descriptiveness of her surroundings helped me to enter the parallel world along side her, and I enjoyed every second of my journey. This is most assuredly a book that will captivate the minds of young people. Even the minds of those who do not necessarily enjoy reading will find themselves longing for the next page. This author is well on her way to being a best seller!"
